CHILHOWIE, Va. Charles Richard "Dick" Adams, 88, of Chilhowie, passed away on Saturday February 27, 2016. He was born in Helen, W.Va. to the late Melvin Harry Adams and Rhetta Hagy Adams. He was a United States Navy veteran and worked for the telephone company for 36 years. He was preceded in death by brother, Rudolph Adams and Thomas Adams; sisters, Juanita Yates,Bernice Thweatt, Beulah Branson and Mildred Holley. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Jessie Mae Tuggle Adams; one brother, Ronnie Adams; two sisters, Elsie Cruey, and Margaret Hayden; two sons, Dean and Connie Adams, Mike and Sharon Adams; three daughters, Patty Arnold, Sheila and Wayne Sheets, all of Chilhowie, Debbie and Joe Doane of Piney Flats, Tenn.; 12 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Graveside services for Dick Adams will be conducted at St. Clairs Bottom Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery at 2 p.m. Monday, February 29, 2016, with Elder James Hayden officiating. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons. Everyone is asked to meet at the cemetery. In honor of his life, and in lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
