Mrs. Absher was well known in the community as first, the secretary at Elizabethtown Primary School and later, as secretary to the president of Bladen Community College. Throughout her life, she enjoyed her role as a homemaker, wife and mother. Dishing up delicious food to whomever walked past her kitchen or showed up at her backdoor was one of her trademark examples of giving love.

Preceding her in death were her parents, Tom and Lucille Carter; a brother, J.T. Carter, a son-in-law, Terry Tolar and a great-grandson Austin Absher.

Mrs. Absher is survived by her husband, Bobby Absher of the home; two sons, Tommy and wife Marianne of Raleigh and Scott and wife Ann of Pinehurst; two daughters, Beth of Elizabethtown, and Jewell and husband Dusty of Sanford, and a brother, Bobby Carter and wife Ann of Burgaw. She was blessed with five grandchildren; Rob and wife Heather of Wake Forest; Hugh of Raleigh; Ashley White and husband Michael of Pinehurst; Libby of Sanford and Keith of Elizabethtown. Blessings continued with three great-grandchildren; Auburn, Mollie and Mia.
