Mrs. Etta Abbott Souder, 87, widow of G. W. Souder, formerly of Lexington and Nicholasville, died at the St. Joseph Hospital at Ashville, N.C., Tuesday night after a two-week illness. She was a daughter of the late John W. and Laura White Wilson and a native of Owen County. She was a former employee at the Good Samaritan Hospital. She attended Owen County schools and was a member of the New Columbus Methodist Church. Survivors are two daughters, Mrs. J. B. Johnson, Lexington, and Mrs. Mack Chilton, Ashville, N.C.; a son, J. W. Abbott, Rockmart, Ga.; four sisters, Mrs. Lula Wilson, Nicholasville, Mrs. William Johnston, Cincinnati, Mrs. Fern Beard, Pittsburgh, Kan.; a brother, Ralph Wilson, Nicholasville; nine grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. Services will be conducted at the W. R. Milward Mortuary - Southland at 1:30 p.m. Friday by the Rev. Lowell F. Sodeman. Burial will be in the New Columbus Cemetery in Owen County. The body is due to arrive in Lexington tonight and friends may call at the mortuary after noon Thursday.
