Nadine Richards Abbott, 100, of Vinton, Va., passed away on Wednesday, March 16, 2016. Nadine was born on August 19, 1915, to the late Charles Frank and Bertha Oyler Richards. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Clarence Abbott; and 11 sisters and brothers.

She is survived by two daughters, Sandra Gisiner (Thomas) of Vinton, and Phoebe Morrell (Donald) of Abingdon; grandchildren, Melanie Steinle (Mark) of Murrells Inlet, S.C., Jill Carr (Laura Arnold) of Roanoke, Kirk Gisiner (Cynthia) of Ruckersville, and Justin Gisiner (Veronica) of Roanoke; and a great-grandchild, Trenton Zyad Gisiner.

Nadine retired from Roanoke Memorial Hospital in 1980 after 24 years of service. She then volunteered there for another 29 years accumulating 20,302 hours.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 18, 2016, at Oakey's Vinton Chapel. The Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 19, 2016, at Campbell Memorial Presbyterian Church in Vinton with the Rev. James Smith officiating.
