Loretta Abbott Hall, 61, of Rigby, Idaho, passed away Sunday, April 17, 2016, at her home from leukemia (CML). She was under the care of her loving family and Aspen Home Health and Hospice.

She was born in Malad, Idaho, on May 29, 1954, the sixth child of John Oldham Abbott and Katie Archibald Abbott. She grew up in Malad, having many fun times with cousins, friends, and her nieces and nephews, whom she loved so much.

She married her best friend and sweetheart, Alan Lyle Hall, in Malad, Idaho. They were later sealed for time and all eternity in the Idaho Falls, Idaho LDS Temple on their 9th wedding anniversary. She was so grateful for Alan’s love, tender care, and concern for her during her illness. They were best friends and loved being together.

From the time she was small her greatest desire was to be a wife and mother. Loretta treasured being a Mom to her three children and Grandma to her thirteen grandchildren. She was so proud of their many accomplishments and cherished each one so very much. If her family was happy, she was happy.

Loretta was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She loved serving in the church where she made many forever friends. She had a special love and appreciation for teens, serving many years in Young Women presidencies, twice as President. She felt blessed to be able to teach the Temple Preparation class with her husband, Alan. They also were privileged to serve together as missionaries in the LDS Addiction Recovery program. Loretta treasured her sisters in the gospel and loved serving in the Relief Society as President, Secretary, Teacher, Compassionate Service Leader, Homemaking Leader, and visiting teacher for over 40 years. Loretta had an immense love for her Savior, Jesus Christ, her Heavenly Father, the Holy Ghost, and the Temple. During her illness, she came to value the LDS Indexing Program, as it helped her to feel she was still serving the Lord and others.

Loretta worked at the Bank of Commerce for many years and enjoyed the friends she had there. She also worked with her husband at A & B Transmission for a few years. She cherished her home, admired quilts and quilting, reading, genealogy, attending the temple, music, playing the piano, crocheting, psychology, and most of all being with her family, spending time with the grandkids, and attending their activities. Her long-held dream of seeing the city of Nauvoo and the temple there was realized in 2014, a time she will forever treasure.

Loretta is survived by her husband, Alan; her children and their spouses, Lyle (Ashlee) Hall, Shanie (Brian) Parkinson, and Wade (Amanda) Hall; her sister, Nancy (Vern) Martin; her wonderful grandchildren, Karli, Morgan, Hunter, Rylee, Dallas, Colton, Easton, Oakley, and Berkley Hall, Brittan, Katie, Jessica, and Jacob Parkinson; and 18 beloved nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John J. Abbott; her sisters, Linda Abbott, Deloris Beeton, and Patsy Johnson; her niece, Christine Lopez; and her nephews, Jerry Beeton and Guy Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2016, at the Garfield LDS 6th Ward, 71 North 3700 East, Rigby, Idaho, with Bishop Chad Billman officiating. The family will visit with friends Thursday from 6:30-8 p.m. at Wood Funeral Home East Side, 963 S. Ammon Road, and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be at 3 p.m. in the Malad City Cemetery.

Special thanks to Loretta’s family, sweet friends, kind neighbors, and Aspen Home Health and Hospice for their care and service to her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Primary Children’s Hospital, 100 Mario Capecchi Drive, Salt Lake City, UT 84132.
