Joyce was born Oct. 26, 1932 in Normal to Lloyd Abbey and Eva Capps Abbey. She married Delmar Clayton Jones on Feb. 22, 1952 at the First Methodist Church in Normal.
She is survived by her husband, Delmar; their four children, Linda Jones, Julie (Shawn) Milling, Richard (Deborah) Jones and Lloyd (Jocelyn) Jones; her sister, Barbara (Marvin) Bonny; a sister-in-law, Virginia Abbey; 10 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Dana Abbey.
Joyce graduated from Normal Community High School in 1950. After high school, she worked at the First National Bank of Normal while her husband was serving in the U.S. Army. After his return, she worked on the family farm and raised their four children. Later in life, she worked at Bartels’ grocery store in Colfax as well as the Gun Club in rural Colfax.
She was a longtime member of the Arrowsmith Christian Church and was also a member of the Order of The Eastern Star. She volunteered her time and talent at the McLean County Museum of History by restoring and completing quilts and also participated in an organized movement to make blankets for the homeless population in the local community.
