Services for George W. Abby, 85, were held Friday afternoon from the Ingram Funeral Home, with Rev. Emery Emmert officiating.
Mr. Abby died March 12 at Rest Haven Manor, where he had been brought March 3, from the Wayfair Restorium at Fairfield.
He had been a patient at Fairfield Memorial Hospital and at the Restorium since February 4, for removal of his left leg due to circulatory trouble.
Survivors are a daughter, Mrs. Carrol (Mary Ellen,) Seifert of Albion; three sons, Ross Abby of Harrisburg, Allen of Olney and Clarence of Mt. Carmel; 10 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; and a sister, Mrs. Alice Smith of Mt. Erie.
Mr. Abby was a rural Ellery farmer in the Little Prairie community, prior to his retirement. He had resided recently with his daughter.
The son of William and Hattie Chalcraft Abby, he was born October 14, 1853 in Edwards County. He was married to the former Blanche Bunting, who preceded him in death March 4, 1954.
Burial was at Graceland Cemetery.
