Irene Adams Proctor, died Wednesday, May 23, 2007, at Vanderbilt University Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Spann Funeral Home, Dickson, with Brother Dan Harrell and Brother Earl Lavender officiating.
Burial will be in Union Cemetery, Dickson. Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Spann Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
She was born in Erin, daughter of the late Arthur Emery Adams and Lola Judith Breeden Adams. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Matthew Proctor; and brothers, Joe, Bert, and Ewing Adams. Her sisters, Allie Adams Malone and Imogene Adams Rye survive. Other survivors include nieces, Diane Adams and Judy Rye; nephews, Jim, Woody, and Don Adams, Gary Adams and Les and Bennett Rye.
Mrs. Proctor received a Bachelor of Science degree from Austin Peay State University and a Master of Arts degree in library science from George Peabody College, Nashville. She was a librarian and retired from the Fort Campbell Dependent School System, Fort Campbell, Ky. She was a member of the American Library Association, lifetime member of the National Education Association, the Tennessee Education Association, Wilson County Retired Teachers Association, the Middle Tennessee Genealogical Society, the National Genealogical Society, and the Almaville FCE Club.
Mrs. Proctor was a member of Woodmont Hills Church of Christ, where she was a member of the Son Seekers and Early Birds Bible Study Classes.
Pallbearers are Jim Adams, Woody Adams, Lynn Malone, Les Rye, Donald Spann, and Doug Spann.
