Grandpa was a great hard working man. I honor him in his Love for his daughters and his work ethics.

I remember as a child the smell of old spice coming from his cheek before heading home on Sunday afternoon.

He was the second of three children born in Lynden, Washington to Ray & Nellie Hoekstra. He had a sister Anna and a brother Henry. Grandpa Started off running a butcher shop in Lynden, Washington. He married Grandma while living in Lynden and they had two daughters. They sold the shop and purchased a small farm in Willamette, Oregon. Grandpa sold the farm and went to work for Homelite inc.. He and grandma moved to Estacada, Oregon in the 70's or 80's and started a small nursery. In 1987 I was working a summer job in SanFrancisco when I got a phone call with a message that Grandpa had passed away.
