George was age 29 with his wife, Ella, 30, in the 1910 Valley, Douglas, South Dakota census. Pearl was age 9, Raymond, 7, & Iva, 6 months.

George was age 39, a widower, in the 1920 Jefferson, Shelby, Iowa census. Raymond was 16; and Iva, 10. Rosetta L Abbett, 25, a widow, was the housekeeper. The 1925 Centre, Doniphan, Kansas census records George & Rosetta McConnell with Iva McConnell, 15; Walter Abbett, 14; Gasaway Abbett, 10; & William Abbett, 7.

By 1930 George & Rosetta McConnell resided in Burr Oak Township, Doniphan County, Kansas. Walter A. Abbett, 19, and William L. Abbett, 12, were recorded as step-sons of George McConnell. George & Rosetta were also together in the 1940 census in the same location.

Rosetta L. Piper, daughter of David & Elizabeth, had first married William Abbett.
