On September 14, 1962, she married Edwin Klink. They lived in Fargo, ND until moving to the WDAZ Tower, near Dahlen, ND in 1967. Ed was the Chief Engineer at the Transmitter for Channel 8. Ed and Marian had one child, Sharon Kay. They resided at the Transmitter until retirement in 1986. After retirement, they moved to Fordville, ND until 2009. Ed passed away in 2007.
Marian was an avid baker and shopper. She loved to attend school functions that her children participated in. Marian was quite a character; she had a witty sense of humor. Her relatives will remember her having that “Folstrom sense of humor.” She loved visiting with friends. She was involved in Homemaker’s and Birthday Club. Ed and Marian participated in Square Dancing and belonged to the Sons of Norway. Marian sold Avon for over 30 years. She was very active in the Dahlen Lutheran Church, where she was in Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School and Bible School. She served many roles including President of the Ladies Aide and Superintendent of Sunday School. Marian enjoyed traveling. Together she and her family traveled to almost every state in the Union.
Marian was preceded in death by her husband, Edwin; one son, Donald; her parents and eight siblings: Joyce (Wally) Aasen, Elfie (Harvey) Skegrud, Nancy (Art) Mittun, Virginia Folstrom, Manley (Gladys) Folstrom, John (Ceata) Folstrom, Jim (LuVerne) Folstrom, and Omer Folstrom.
Marian is survived by her daughter, Sharon (Randy) Gunderson, Michigan, ND; and one son, Gary (Karen Bohn) Surdel, Edina, MN, five grandchildren: Laura Gunderson (Justin Janke), Fargo, ND: Cory Gunderson, Grand Forks, ND; Peter Surdel (Caroline Camic), Minneapolis, MN; Matthew Surdel (Kelly Garcia), Nashville, TN, and Bobby Surdel, Henderson, NV. Also, many nieces and nephews.
Marian will be remembered for her wonderful sense of humor, her quick wit, her profound faith and her never ending love and devotion for her family.
SERVICES: 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, 2016 at Dahlen Lutheran Church in Dahlen, ND.
VISITATION: One hour prior to the service in the church.
INTERMENT: Zion Cemetery, Dahlen, ND.
