Steve Abbott of Naples, FL went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2016. Born in Bellefontaine Ohio on December 12, 1949, Steve moved with his parents Dick & Esther Abbott to Naples in 1966 and graduated from Naples High in 1968. Shortly after graduation, he was drafted for Vietnam where he served honorably as a Sergeant in the US Army.

Upon his return to the US, he made the decision to work alongside his father as a crane operator where he learned the skill of the trade and helped build many local landmarks. Following his father's early death, Steve started a company, Abbe HAS a Crane, Inc. where he proceeded to put roofs on the homes of Naples, both small and large, watching Naples grow from a small beach town to the beautiful city it is today. As president for 37 years, he ran a crane himself, never missing a day of work, staring intently as he orchestrated trusses and equipment in the air, occasionally cracking with a quick smile and wave. Steve was an avid go cart racer, with enough wins to run out of room for trophies in his home, but enjoyed the competition a throwback to his memories of motocross when he was younger. He paired that with the enjoyment of fishing, camping with horses and hunting. He was very proud of his family who have grown to represent the determination, work ethic and drive he stood for.

In lieu of flowers the family would appreciate a donation to the causes they hold dear, Youth Haven or Sunlight Home of Collier County.

Visitation Saturday, June 18, 2016 from 9:30 AM until time of interment 11:00 AM Hodges Funeral Home at Naples Memorial Gardens, 525 111th Ave. N., Naples, FL 34108. Interment will follow in Naples Memorial Gardens.
