*(Some documents state her husband's birth middle name was "Spurgeon" and not "Spence". Also, after Hattie passed away, John Abbott was married two more times).
Her nine children with John were:
Winfred Abbott (1911-2000),
John Octavis Abbott (1912-?),
Marvin Grant Abbott (1916-2002),
Mary Brothers Abbott (1919-?),
Flossie Martha Abbott (1920-2002),
Wildred Abbott (1924-2000),
George E Abbott (1925-1960),
Jarushia Abbott-Moore (1927-2001),
Ollie Jean Abbott (1930-2003).

ADDITIONAL BURIAL INFORMATION on Hattie Gregory Abbott:
New Sawyers Creek Missionary Church Cemetery may not by Mrs. Abbott's resting place, but is an educated guess, actually an extrapolation since there are very many Gregorys (Hattie's maiden name), and Nixons (I think her middle name, or previous marriage), and Abbotts (Hattie's maiden name) in this cemetery.
Death Certificate states burial on November 11, 1954 in "Shiloh burial ground". Nothing more specific, and there are at least 10 to 15 cemeteries in Shiloh. But, I do believe Miss Hattie final resting place is New Sawyers...Baptist Church Cemetery. If someone can discover (it's probably a few inches down under grass and dirt) her grave footstone, clean it and photograph it, if he most pleased. :-)
More info from Certificate:
Funeral director on this date was (S. J. ?) Walson, Elizabeth City, North Carolina and the Registrar was Grace B. Stevens.
Information above from Ancestry.com.
I am not related to Miss Hattie, nor to her husband John S Abbott. So why put so much effort into these memorials? Just call me the Sherlock Holmes of "buried truths" that is the dead, those gone before us, that should never be forgotten, not disrespected (even though their gone from "these mortal coils") and treated as a number of statistic— but, again, not ever be forgotten.
Besides, I would want someone to do the same for me when I'm gone 64 years like Miss Hattie. That is, find my grave, discover who I was, my life, write a Bio on it.
Miss Hattie you are not Forgotten :-)
