On October 6, 2006, Calvin Keith Adam, passed away in Dallas, Texas. Known by many names, "Cal, Adam, C.K.", but most affectionately by his kids as "Happy".

Born in Wakefield, Kansas, the middle son of Henry and Georgia Adam.

He began attending the University of Kansas, later enrolling and graduating from Annapolis as WWII loomed. He served honorably in the Naval Pacific Fleet, returning to KU to graduate with a Masters in Reservoir Petroleum Engineering. His career with MOBIL OIL took him and his wife Janie, family to South America for 6 years.

Upon returning to the United States, the family took up residence in Midland, Texas. Where he retired after 35 years. Family medical reasons forced him to relocate to Dallas, Texas, where he made is home for the next 20 years. While there he devoted himself and directed his efforts to helping any and all he came into contact with. He performed many happy, thousands of volunteer hours at Baylor Medical Center. Being named "Volunteer of the Year-2000".

He liked wearing that pin.

He was also greatly involved with NAMI/Dallas; and faithfully attended several weekly meetings of the Dual Recovery Groups.

He loved to read and write in those books that caught his interest. His knowledge of Eastern philosophies and religions was extensive and questions were never turned away. He readily shared that. Along with whatever he might have in his pocket, wallet. Material possessions, "stuff" held little interest for him.

He is survived by his son Mike of Midland, his son Tim of Austin, Tim's daughter Tarrah and granddaughter Mikaylah, both of Fort Worth. A daughter Marisa of Big Spring, her two sons, C.K., Jr., and Miles.

His greatest legacy was his passion for trying to make this a better world and making himself available for service, anywhere, anytime, for anyone.

"Happy", you will be long held in our hearts and most sorely missed.
