Richard was born February 29, 1956, in Cedar Falls, Iowa, the son of Henry Jr. and Peg Abbas. He graduated from Denver High School in 1974.
He was united in marriage to Tammy Land, the couple later divorced.
Richard was an ironworker, and owned the Harvest Moon Gallery in Denver until his health forced him to close the shop in 2006.
Richard was an avid outdoorsman where he enjoyed hunting, fishing and flying kites. He held the title of "Champion Mushroom Hunter" of Bremer County.
He is preceded in death by his father, Henry Abbas Jr.
Memorial Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, 2016, at St. John Lutheran Church in Denver with Pastor Larry Feldt officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
