Hazel Mae Brownfield was born June 6, 1925, near Humboldt, Iowa. She was the daughter of Joseph and Zula (Payne) Brownfield. She graduated from Humboldt High School. In 1948, Hazel married Ervin Reinholtz in Manson. The couple had three children, Becky, Tom and Jeff. They lived on a farm near Manson where they farmed and raised their family. In 1972, they moved to Pocahontas. Hazel worked as a dispatcher for Pocahontas County for several years and then as a realtor for Mackovets Agency in Pocahontas. Ervin passed away in 2010.
Hazel was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church and the Ladies Circle. She enjoyed gardening, spending time at Lost Island Lake and she especially loved her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughter, Becky McNeil of West Des Moines; son, Jeff (Debra) Reinholtz of Manson; daughter-in-law, Valerie Reinholtz of Ft. Dodge; family friend Kathy Reinholtz of Des Moines; granddaughters, Amy (Jason) Seehusen, Angie (Steve) Zdrazil, Tracy McIntire and Jamie (Matt) Durand; sixteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; sisters; Dolores Knight, Bonnie Aabbs, Josephine Day and Shirley Joiner and a brother, James Brownfield.
Hazel was preceded by her parents; husband, Ervin; son, Tom; sisters, Kathleen Grauman, Mary Loomis, Pauline Butler and Dorothy Gates and a brother, Marvin Brownfield.
Private family services will be held at a later date.
