Mary Alice Griffin Bateman was born September 16th, 1925 and died at her home in Richlands, NC on May 20th, 2015.
A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Richlands, burial will follow in the Griffin Family Cemetery, Comfort. She is preceded in death by her husband, James W. Bateman; infant son; parents, Lonnie and Bertle Griffin; brothers, Lonnie Griffin and Steve Griffin of Comfort. She is survived by daughters, Judy Bateman Sumner and Fran Strickland, husband Allan of Creedmoor; son, James W. Bateman Jr., wife Margaret Ann of Richlands; sisters, Kathleen White of Jacksonville, Rachel Moore, husband Tommy, of Portsmouth, VA, Elizabeth Croom, husband Allen, of Richlands, Joy Thomas, husband Wilbur, of Comfort; five grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
A special thank you to caregivers Wanda Davis, Ophelia Heath, and Ray Davis, and also the lower Cape Fear Hospice and Life Care Center for their guidance and care. The family will receive friends at 12:30 p.m. Friday, May 22 at Jones Funeral Home, Richlands.
