Virginia was born in Dalton, GA on Dec. 7, 1926. She graduated from Dalton High School and business school, becoming employed as a bookkeeper for Bowen Bros. and the Southern Railroad. She moved to Marietta with her husband Reece, where they were Charter Members of St. Philip United Methodist Church, where she was organist and pianist for over 40 years and actively involved in the Circle of Joy, the choir and many administrative roles. She also worked for Nottingham Company and the Cobb County Board of Education. Then later retired as school secretary of Brown Elementary School. Her retirement years were spent traveling the country with her husband or cooking for her children, grandchildren, doing crossword puzzles, and volunteering for Must Ministries or raising money as a long term breast cancer survivor.
The family will receive friends at Winkenhofer Pine Ridge in Kennesaw, on Tuesday Sept. 27th, from 5-8pm. Services will be in the WPR chapel at 11am on Wednesday Sept. 28th with Rev. Wayne Smith officiating. Additional viewing and interment will be at 2pm at West Hill Cemetery in Dalton, GA later that day. The family requests donations be given to Must Ministries, Georgia Alzheimer's Association , or the American Cancer
