Phyllis Mary Cooper, 87, Topeka, formerly of Ozawkie, died Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Stormont-Vail Hospital. She was born November 8, 1929 in Williamsburg, KS, the daughter of Kester Ashley and Fidelia Ethel Quadra Graffham. She was a 1947 graduate of Williamsburg High School and attended Stricklers Business College in Topeka. Mrs. Cooper worked in sales for Montgomery Wards department store in Topeka, retiring after 15 years. She had also worked at Pelletiers department store and at Topeka State Bank. She was a member of Ozawkie United Methodist Church, Jefferson County Historical Society, Topeka Stamp Collectors Club, Kanza Prairie Quilter’s and the Ozawkie Fire Department Aux. Unit. Phyllis enjoyed ceramics, sewing, Dr. Oz and Dancing With The Stars. She was married to Frank Edward Cooper on April 2, 1949 at Homewood, KS, he survives at the home. Other survivors are one son, Michael Craig Cooper, Forrest City, AR, one daughter, Jane Marie Cooper, Topeka, 10 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Edward Lee Cooper, a daughter, Cynthia Kay Martin and one sister, Geraldine Abbott. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 14, at Ozawkie United Methodist Church. Visitation one hour prior to service, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at the Church.
