Cochran – Dorothea M. Abney, age 87, died Saturday, November 26, 2016, at her residence. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, November 29, 2016, at 1:00 P.M. at Mathis Funeral Home. Burial will be private at Mt. Calvary Baptist Church Cemetery.
Mrs. Abney, born in Santa Cruz, CA, had lived in Cochran since 1951. She was the daughter of the late Frank J. and Alice Jones Sommers and the wife of the late Jack M. Abney. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Gerald Sommers and Arthur Sommers and her granddaughter Nicole Little. She was a 1946 graduate of Holy Cross High School in Santa Cruz and attended Salina Junior College in Salinas, CA. She was a homemaker and member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Dublin.
The family is at 1361 GA Highway 112 and will greet friends after the service Tuesday at Mathis Funeral Home.
