Charles was born July 15, 1928 in Catlin, Illinois to Charles and Nora White Mills. He married Bonnie Louise Thomas on January 16, 1960 in Catlin. Surviving are: two step sons: William F. Spencer Sr. of Fairmount and Vernon (Kathy) Spencer Jr of Williamsport, Indiana; one daughter: Nora (Bryson Ritcher) Mills of Tilton; one brother: Ferman (Helen) Mills of Beloit, Wisconsin; seventeen grandchildren; and numerous great and great-great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two daughters: Beverly Harper and Brenda Schmit, four brothers: Harlen, Richard, Claude, and Emmanuel; and two sisters: Sylvia Williams and Garnett Abbott.
Charles served in the US Army. He was a hard worker all of his life and was a member of the Catlin Church of Christ. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, mushroom hunting, and watching NASCAR. He was an avid Bears and Cubs fan. He loved spending time with his family.
Funeral Services 2 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the Catlin Church of Christ with Mike Strunga officiating. Burial in Pate Cemetery, Catlin with military honors by the Davis Busby Catlin American Legion Post #776. Visitation 1 to 2 pm on Thursday, December 15, 2016 at the church.
