Gary Lee Abbott, 20, Stanfill, drowned Sunday while attempting to swim to shore after his boat stalled in Norris Lake, Union County sheriff's deputies said.
Officers said the body of Abbott was pulled from the Beach Island area of the lake by members of the Union County Rescue Squad.
He was a carpenter and had lived here most of his life.
Services will be conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Pansy Baptist Church.
Burial will be in Resthaven Cemetery
In addition to his parents, Roy Abbott, Stanfill; and Mrs. Louise Abbott, Detroit; he is survived by three brothers, Jerry, Oklahoma; Charles and Roy of Rosspoint; and sister, Mrs. Barbara Huckleby, Rosspoint.
Pallbearers will be Robert Spurlock, Henry Fee, Ronnie Hensley, Terry Wells, Don Browning, Mike Fee and Tim Moore.
The family will receive friends in the chapel of Anderson-Laws Funeral Home from 6 until 10 p.m. today.
The body will be taken to the church one hour before the funeral.
Anderson-Laws Funeral Home is in charge.
