Charlevoix...A man about 69 was found dead in a clump of cedars a short distance north of Ironton at Mid-afternoon Thursday by two Ionia men who had just arrived at their trailer parked a short distance away.
Death, which is believed to occurred about Aug. 13, was due to self-inflicted wounds from a .22 caliber rifle which was found at the scene according to James Stackus county coroner and Harvey C. Varnum, county prosecuter.
Durwood Andrews and Donald Siel of Ionia said they had arrived at their trailer only a short time before and were cutting through the wooded area to obtain a pail of fresh water at the spring in a nearby field when they discovered the body.
They notified the Charlevoix county sheriff department.
