After Theo Garrard died she is believed to have married Jesse Barrett.
"Almira Maupin 1822 had one son and 5 daughters with T.T. Garrard, Margaret in 1846 , Mary in 1847, Oran in 1848 …..T.T. Garrard first wife died after 10 yrs of marriage. He then had an arrangement with Almira Maupin, fathering all of her children. He married Lucy Lee and had several more children while still having Almira having children. She was not as "well bred" or educated as was wanted by the elite Garrards, Whites, etc"....from Carol Bradley.

Suggested edit: Almira Maupin had six children sired by T. T. Garrard. two girls, then a son, Oran born in 1848, then three more daughters. It was after the son was born he married noted wife number two. Almira was still being supported by him and I suspect due to not having the fancy connections required , he did not marry her. She and most of the children including Oran, moved to the Amarillo ,Tx area by 1890. I am his great great granddaughter. Thru Oran Maupin / Margaret Jane Davis... Do you think there may have been some kind of binding or contract with Almira and your connection?
