J. Raelene Affeldt-Pritt, 76, passed away Wednesday, January 4, 2017, at the Comanche County Hospital in Coldwater, KS. Born April 2, 1940, in Coldwater, KS, she was the daughter of John R. "Raymond" and Betty L. (Morris) Shultz.

She worked in various Civil Service capacities with the military, and as her job moved and her husband was re-assigned in the Navy, she ended up living in a number of countries, including Spain, Japan, Puerto Rico, and the Philippines before returning to Coldwater in 1994 upon the death of her husband.

Here she worked in several positions, including as an aide at the Comanche County Hospital, the special education cooperative secretary, and as a legal secretary in Ashland.

She is survived by one son: Raymond Affeldt (Debra) of Coldwater, KS; and numerous cousins and friends.

Services are pending and will be announced at a later time. Memorials are suggested to Comanche County Fire Department in care of Hatfield-Prusa Funeral Home, PO Box 417, Coldwater, KS.

Raelene's body was donated to the University of Kansas for medical research. At the end of one year, she will be cremated, sent back to her son, and buried in Crown Hill next to her late husband.
