Martha Ruth “Marty” Bott, age 78, of Remus passed away January 9, 2017 surrounded by her loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, January 13th at 11:00 AM, at St. Michael Catholic Church in Remus, with Father Tom Boufford as celebrant. Visitation will be held at Janowicz Family Funeral Home in Remus on Thursday, from 4:00 – 7:00 PM (Rosary at 6:30 PM) and again at church one hour prior to the Mass. Burial will take place at St. Michael’s Cemetery immediately following the Mass.

Martha was born in Remus on November 30, 1938, the daughter of Herman and Ruth (May) Abel. She married Max Bott on June 14, 1958, and together they grew their family to include six children.

Marty had the heart of an angel and the fortitude of a saint. She put everyone else before herself, which brought her great joy. She loved life and being with her family and friends! Her loving husband Max was her lifelong companion, friend and eventual caretaker. She was a devoted Catholic and leaned on God to get her through life's many challenges. She was an obstetrics nurse for 40 years and loved holding babies. Marty was an avid skier and world traveler. Her hobbies would include sewing, quilting, gardening, golfing, and of course, spending time with her grandchildren.

Optimistic, kind, dedicated, and loving were all words used to describe Marty.
Although Alzheimer's first took her mind and then her body, it never took her spirit! She fought until the very end!

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 58 years, Max; their six children, Theresa (Kevin) Breen, Maureen (Dennis) Wolfe, Susan (Tim) LeClair, Max A. (Kirsten) Bott, Allen (Lori) Bott and Phillip (Elizabeth) Bott; brothers, Jerry, Fred and David Abel; sisters, Mary Wojcik, and Joanie Carmody; seventeen grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

Martha was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Kenny and Jim Abel.

Those desiring may direct memorial contributions to The Alzheimer's Association or to St. Michael’s School.
