ARTHUR PETER PETERSEN

While many of his friends knew of his serious condition, the announcement of the death of Arthur Petersen Tuesday afternoon came as a shock to the community. He was taken ill some time ago while at the home of his uncle, Annis Petersen near the Big Island north of Ord and grew worse so rapidly that it was thought best not to bring him to his home. Saturday at his request he was taken to the Weekes hospital at Scotia but his case was so serious that there was no help for him. He was accompanied by his wife and Mr. and Mrs. Petersen and by the nurse, Miss Lyman who had come from Scotia to care for him. His trouble was tumor of the bladder and he grew steadily worse until Tuesday of this week when he died. The remains were brought to Ord yesterday.
Arthur Petersen was born August 11 1885, in Omaha. His father died in September 1888. When Arthur was six years of age his mother removed to Belle Plains, Iowa, where they lived for fifteen years when they came to Valley county in 1906. In 1908 Arthur was married to Maude Arnold, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ike Arnold. Two children were born to them, Bruce and Thora. Besides his wife and two children, deceased is survived by his mother, Mrs. Dragah [sic - Drahos] and two sisters. He was employed for four and a half years as manager of the Beatrice cream station in Ord.
The funeral is being held this afternoon from the Christian church and interment is to be made in the Ord cemetery.
