Thomas Lee "Tommy" Adams, 75, of Dillard, Georgia, formerly of Franklin, North Carolina, passed away Saturday, Feb 4, 2017 at his home. Mr. Adams was born in Macon County, North Carolina, September 18, 1941 to the late Ed and Hallie Adams. He received a Master's degree in Psychology from Appalachian State University; Tommy retired with more than 30 years of service from the North Carolina Highway Patrol as a Sergeant; worked several years for the U.S. Marshall Service; and he also taught criminal justice at Southwestern Community College, McDowell Technical College, and Mayland Community College. Tommy loved to fish and work on the Christmas tree farm; He was a member of Higdonville Baptist Church and was a U.S. Navy Veteran. Survivors include the mother of their children; a daughter and her husband; a son and his wife, and three grandchildren. Tommy was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Eddie Adams and Bruce Adams. A funeral service was held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, February 9, 2017 in the chapel of Bryant-Grant Funeral Home in Franklin. Burial followed in the Mountain Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.
