Darlyne Abbott, 89, of Valverde St., Carlsbad, NM, passed away on Monday, February 13, 2017 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 18, 2017 at the West Funeral Home Chapel with Harry Tackett of Roswell, NM officiating. Interment will follow at Carlsbad Cemetery (new section). Visitation and family greeting of guests will be 4-6 p.m. on Friday at West Funeral Home.
Lindell “Darlyne” S. Riley Abbott was born to Coye and Opal L. Truitt Sanders on May 1, 1927 in Lamesa, TX. She was raised by her mother and dad John Riley and moved to Carlsbad, NM at a very young age.
Jack Abbott, Jr. and Darlyne were married in 1980.  She was employed for several years as a postal clerk at the mail station located inside Winn’s at the Northgate Shopping Center.
Darlyne was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church beginning the first day of worship at the 6th Street location and an active member of her Sunday school class. She loved sewing, quilting and spending time with her grandchildren and their activities.
Darlyne is preceded in death by her husband, parents and siblings: Maubry Riley, Pat Riley and Audrey Linder.
She is survived by daughters: Judy Jones of Roswell, NM, Cheryl and husband Tommy Vickers of Carlsbad, NM and Cathy Gossett of Midland, TX, brother Connie Mack Riley and wife Brenda of Carlsbad, NM; 6 grandchildren:  Brant Jones and wife Mindi of Roswell,NM,  Tammy Collins and husband Travis of Albuquerque, NM, Callie Mayrhofen and husband Kyle of Carlsbad, NM, Britni Vickers of Albuquerque, NM,  Sean and Vicki Vickers of Arlington, VA and Lane Gossett of Midland, TX and 6 great-grandchildren Cason and Mackenzie Jones of Roswel, NM, Christopher Ryan Collins of Albuquerque, NM and Alex, Kyle Thomas and Chris Mayrhofen of Carlsbad, NM.
Pallbearers are BJ Jones, Cason Jones, Richard Bradfute, Travis Collins, Christopher Ryan Collins and Lane Gossett.
