Jannie Muriel Buchanan Moore, 84, of Waynesville, died Wednesday, Jan. 17, 2007, at her residence.

Services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 20, in the chapel of Garrett Funeral Home, with the Revs. Eddie Deitz and Ricky Mason officiating. Burial was in Old Field Cemetery, Sylva.

Pallbearers were Alan Arrington, Robbie Thompson, Joey Thompson, Jay Entwistle, Craig Cable and Ricky Buchanan. Honorary pallbearers were Jeff Entwistle and Will Nolte.

A native of Jackson County, she was born Jan. 30, 1922, to the late Roy E. and Luna Cowan Buchanan. She was a member of Allens Creek Baptist Church. She enjoyed crafts, photography and cooking, and was an avid outdoorswoman.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Joseph C. Thompson; one son, Randall Moore; one daughter, Deborah Moore; one brother, Ray C. Buchanan; and one grandson.

Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Hayes Moore; one son, Donnie Thompson of Waynesville; one daughter, Glenda Smith of Waynesville; one step-son, the Rev. Mike Moore of Whittier; one step-daughter, Brenda Bradsher of Seneca, S.C.; three brothers, Paul Buchanan of Athens, Tenn., Glenn Buchanan of Hoquiem, Wash., and Dempsey Buchanan of Sylva; three sisters, Carrie Adams of West Virginia, Rachel Bishop of Lake Junaluska, and Marcella Cable of Waynesville; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
