Adams, born in Taylorville, IL, at one time operated a store and livery stable in Tulsa, and took part in the Oklahoma land rush in the last decade of the 19th century. He took up a homestead in Canada shortly after that, returning to Oklahoma, and finally coming to Inverness to homestead in 1913. His third wife, Axie Adams, died in 1925. Previously Adams was married to Mrs Emma Swim and then to Mrs Nora O'Neil.
Among the surviving relatives are the following sons and daughters: Mrs Celia Anderson, Saginaw, MI; Mrs Mary Bright, Inverness; Mrs Dorothy Sauers, Smelterville, Idaho; Oscar Adams, Rudyard; Emery and Donald Adams, Inverness; Eugene Adams, Opportunity, WA; and James, John and Carl Adams, Kellogg, Idaho; 39 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren; and nephews, George Adams, Chester, and Harvey B Adams, Joplin.
