Funeral services for Miles William Ausrud, 47, who died Monday from a knife wound inflicted accidentally while working at the Jacob E. Decker & Sons Plant, will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Major Memorial Chapel with burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Military rites will be conducted at the graveside by the Mason City Veterans Memorial Association.
Miles Ausrud was born July 4, 1913, at Bode, Iowa, son of John and Agnes (Brodalen) Ausrud. He was baptized at the Norwegian Lutheran Church of Bode and confirmed in 1927 at the Swedish Lutheran Church of Pocahontas.
During his early manhood he was employed as a farm hand in the vicinity of Hayfield, Minn. He was married to Stella Gross of Hayfield, Feb. 17, 1942. Shortly after this, he was called into service in the U. S. Army Medical Corps for four years.
Since then he and his wife have lived in the vicinity of Rockford and Mason City.
Surviving are his wife, Stella, two stepdaughters, Laura Buck, Portland, Ore., and Thelma Albright, Bloomington, Ind.; two stepsons, Al Albright and Dennis Albright, both of Monticello, Ark., and five step grandchildren.
Two brothers, Nobel Ausrud and Jorgen Ausrud, both of Hayfield, Minn., and a sister, Miss Evelyn Ausrud, Gary, Ind., also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents.
