He had a 28-year career with the U.S. Army, retiring as Master Sgt. Following his military service, he was a rural mail carrier for 20 years. He loved animals, especially dogs and cats.
He is survived by sons, Glen Abbott (Lisa), of Rose Hill, and James Abbott (Linda), of Lawton, Okla.; daughters, Kym Thompson (Troy), of Marion, and Michelle Abbott, of Hutchinson; brother, John Abbott, of Kansas City, Kan.; and numerous grandchildren.
Allen was preceded in death by son, Jon; and two wives, Judy Abbott and Bernice Abbott.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday, May 11, at Zeiner Funeral Home, Marion.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, May 12, at Zeiner Funeral Home. Committal service will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Abilene Cemetery, with military honors.
