Barbara Hepler Acosta, 80, of 503 Broken Arrow Lane, died, Tuesday, June 6, 2017, at her home.

She was born September 28, 1936, in Alleghany County a daughter of the late H.M. ”Matt” Hepler and Virgie Terry Hepler. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two Sisters, Raynelle Detamore and Doris Simmons ; one brother Ralph Hepler and three infant sisters.

Mrs. Acosta was a school teacher for over 30 years with the YSLETA Independent School District in El Paso, TX.

Surviving are her daughter Christina Harvey of Houston, TX, two grandsons, Conor Harvey and Gareth Harvey both of Houston, TX, a sister Bonnie Burrows and husband Jack of Jacksonville, NC, two brothers Freddy Hepler and wife Ellen, and Carlos Hepler and wife Ruth all of Covington; a sister –in-law, Christine Hepler of Covington; a daughter in love, Joy Robertson of Covington; a Nephew Carlos Acosta and wife Crystal, of Tempe, AZ.

The funeral service will be held Sunday June 11, 2017 at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Arritt Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Gilliland officiating. Interment will follow at Lone Star Cemetery. The family will receive their friends Saturday evening from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM and at other times at the home 503 Broken Arrow, Covington, VA.

The family suggests that memorial contributions in Mrs. Acosta’s name be made to the American Cancer Society at 1700 Maccorkle Ave SE, 3rd Floor ,Charleston , WV 25314.
