Chesapeake - Lucille Brady joined hands once again with her beloved Mel in Heaven on June 6, 2017. Besides Mel, she was greeted by her parents, Garland and Annie Baker and siblings Margie Acey, Red Baker, and Bob Baker along with their spouses. A host of other aunts, uncles, and dear friends were also there to celebrate Mom's arrival. Mom's faith and love of family were key influences during her 84 years. Birthdays, holidays, and vacations were anticipated and planned to perfection. Her sense of humor prevailed when pain from surgeries and illnesses interrupted daily life and joyous occasions.

Mom taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. She volunteered in several area PTA's and when her children were grown, worked at NNSY. She "retired" to help Dad build cottages on the Outer Banks and to spend their children's inheritances by going on 40 cruises. She taught us love, compassion, and perseverance. Her son, Jim Brady and wife Irene, along with their children Jessica Brady Graves and Adam Brady and granddaughter Emma Graves will miss her greatly. She was always there to encourage them. Her daughter, Cindy Bierman and husband Bob, along with their children Kate Lennon and husband John, Adam Bierman, and Amy Bierman and granddaughter, Audrey Lennon and grandson, Wyatt Lennon, will remember her always for her love and devotion. Many thanks to Hope and Shamel Lewis for their loving care of Mom.

A funeral service will be held at 1 P.M. Friday, June 9, 2017, at Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Blvd. Chapel by the Rev. Steve Bingham. Burial will follow in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 8 from 5:30 to 7 P.M.
