Gladys D Vredeveld Aalbers, 101 yrs. old, quietly passed away on June 7, 2017 at Covenant Village of the Great Lakes.

Gladys was born in Grand Rapids to Tena and Isaac Manni. She married Morris Vredeveld and moved to Fremont, MI as a young bride. Morris tragically died at a young age, but Gladys remained in Fremont to raise her four children. When they were grown, she returned to Grand Rapids and worked in Public Relations for Old Kent Bank.

She married Albert Aalbers who passed away several years ago. Gladys was a warm and loving woman, with a positive attitude; a caretaker for anyone in need. Her cheerful heart was good medicine for everyone who met her. Gladys enjoyed life and will be remembered with enduring love and joy by her four children, Lavonne Last, George Vredeveld (Rose), Trenda Vannette (Walter), and Kathy Heetderks (Bill); 12 grandchildren, and 30 great grandchildren.

Gladys was predeceased by her parents, 2 husbands, her dear sister LuVeran Newhof, her two grandsons Walter Vannette, Jr, and Thomas Manni Last, and her son-in-law James Last, Sr.

A special thank you to Covenant Village of the Great Lakes for the tenderness and loving care they provided for the past two years.
Services will be held at Shawnee Park Christian Reformed Church (2255 Tecumseh, S.E., Grand Rapids, MI) on Tuesday, June 13. Memorial donations can be made to Safe Haven Ministries, providing support to women and their children; a cause that was very dear to Gladys’ heart.
