NORFOLK - James (Jimmy) Crockett Harris, 88, passed away peacefully in his home on Thursday, July 20, 2017. A native of Warrenton, North Carolina and a longtime resident of Hampton, Virginia, he was the son of the late A.D. Harris and Grace Crockett Harris. A graduate of East Carolina University, he served over 20 years in the United States Air Force and retired as a Major. An athlete his entire life, he played basketball, baseball and football at Warrenton's John Graham High School but his real love was always golf.

Predeceased by his loving wife of 61 years, Patsy Capps Harris, survivors include his daughters, Mary H. O'Donnell and her husband Patrick of Norfolk, VA and Patsy G. Harris of St. Petersburg, FL; and his sons, James (Jim) C. Harris II and his wife Linda of Chesapeake, VA and Anthony (Andy) L. Harris of Williamsburg, VA. He is also survived by his sister, Ruby Coley of Chapel Hill, NC and his six grandchildren, Laura Olien and her husband Chris, James Harris III and his wife Meredith, Connor, Christopher and Meghan O'Donnell , Andrew Harris and many nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery, Arcola, NC on Saturday, July 29, 2017 at 2:00 PM by his grandson, James C. Harris III. Memorial donations may be made to Bethlehem Methodist Church, Arcola, NC or Wesley United Methodist Church, Hampton, VA.
