Pearl I. Kambel, 80, Huron, SD, formerly of Hitchcock, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at the Huron Regional Medical Center. Her Mass of Christian Burial was Thursday, August 24, 2017 at Holy Trinity Catholic Parish in Huron with burial at Altoona Cemetery near Hitchcock.

Pearl Inez Aanenson was born July 7, 1937 in Miller to Obert and Dorothy (Kent) Aanenson. She was raised in the Miller area, where she attended school through the 8th grade. Pearl married Donavon D. Kambel, Sr on December 28, 1957 in Miller. Pearl and Don then moved to Hitchcock, where they raised their four children. Pearl worked at the Lips Cafe in Miller, the Silver Diner and after moving to Hitchcock worked as a cook at the school for 17 years. Sometimes during the summer, she would help out at the Hitchcock Cafe or Kingdon Variety Store. She enjoyed gardening and sewing, often planting a garden big enough to feed the whole town of Hitchcock. Pearl was also a member of the Raymond Hart American Legion Post 84 Auxiliary for many years.

Pearl is survived by her children, Donavon (Narumi) Kambel, Homestead, FL, Debra Kambel, Aberdeen, Brenda Traver, Huron, Bernard Kambel, Homestead, FL; six grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; sister-in-law, Margie Aanenson, brother-in-law, Terry (Lavone) Kambel, and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Donavon, Sr; three brothers, Burt Aanenson, Bill Aanenson, Chuck Aanenson; one sister, JoAnn Perkins and one sister-in-law, Rosemary Norton.
