Gowrie- Elvera A. Peterson, 95, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2017 at Pearl Valley Rehab and Nursing in Gowrie.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 22, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home in Gowrie with Rev. Dr. James H. Chesnutt officiating. Burial will be at Greenfield Township Cemetery, Knierim. Friends may call after 10 a.m. Tuesday August 22, 2017 at Palmer Funeral Home, Gowrie.

She is preceded in death by her parents Louis and Mattie (Wieker) Abens; husband, Harold Peterson; son, Leon Peterson; sisters, Marge Albrecht and Darlene Wahlgren.

Elvera A. Abens was born May 1, 1922. She graduated from Ware High School in 1940. Elvera was united in marriage to Harold Peterson on January 1, 1946 in Palmer. They farmed in Palmer and moved to Knierim in 1953. Elvera moved to Florida where she helped her parents and later returned to Farnhamville and then to the Gowrie Care Center. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Farnhamville and her life was music.
