Easton seemed to lead a life of petty crimes, and was sentenced to 6 years by the Madison County Courts for breaking and entering and larceny.

Following an escape from a Nelson County road camp, Easton initiated a shoot out with local police after a posse, led by Sheriff W.E. Lucas, tracked him down to his hiding place at the home of Plunnie Breeden in the Blue Ridge Mountains on Wed, 4 Jan 1933. Shot three times, he was taken to Rockingham Hospital where he had to undergo emergency surgery.

Born Sun, 10 Apr 1910, Easton died on Thu, 5 Jan 1933 as a result of the injuries he sustained in the shoot out with law enforcement officers the day before.

He lived 22 years, 8 months, 26 days.
