September 26, 1913 ~ September 13, 2006 (age 92) Lucretia "Cree" Alice Keck Abbey, age 92, died Wednesday, September 13, 2006 at the Stanford Nursing Home. Born September 26, 1913 in Corning, N.Y. she was the daughter of Otto and Rosa Keck. "Cree" and Lloyd Abbey were married on January 21, 1932, a union that ended with his death in June of 1992. The Abbey's moved to Kentucky in 1975 from Ojai, Ca.
"Cree" had been active for several years in the Lincoln Co. Homemakers Assoc. and was a volunteer at EphraimMcDowellHospital. She was a member of Moreland Christian Church. Until her health prevented travel, she spent time each year visiting with daughters in the west.
Lucretia is survived by six daughters, Marian Cortright of Meridian, Id., Shirley Bement of Bishop, Ca., Jean Anderson and Joan Abbey of Port Orford, Or., Linda Abbey of Victoria, B.C. Canada, and Sandra (Mrs. George Martin) of Stanford, Ky.; three sisters, Beatrice Griffin and Helen Ayers of Corning, N.Y. and Rosalie (Mrs. Donald Andrews) of Horseheads, N.Y.; twenty-one grandchildren, forty-three great grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; plus several nieces and nephews.
A Private family Memorial Service will be held at Moreland Christian Church with Pastor David Smith officiating. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations be made to Moreland Christian Church, 5600 Hwy 2141, Hustonville, Ky 40437, or Heritage Hospice, P.O. Box 1213, Danville, Ky.
Arrangements are entrusted to Fox Funeral Home of Stanford, with Cremation, and the ashes interred beside her late husband's on the Martin Family Farm.
