RAYMOND LEWIS "RAY" ABBOTT
May 31, 1934 ~ November 2, 2017

Funeral services for Raymond Lewis Abbott, fondly known as Ray, will be held on Friday, November 10, 2017, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Hugo, OK with Pastor Doug McClure officiating; burial will follow at the Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Hugo, OK.

Ray passed away November 2, 2017, in Tulsa, OK at the age of 83.

Ray Abbott was born May 31, 1934 in Shattuck, OK to Raymond N. and Marie (Walton) Abbott. He married Donna Frances Hall on June 21, 1956 in Wichita, KS.

Ray served his country in the United States Air Force for 16 years, starting as an aviation cadet in 1954 and earning his wings in 1956. After obtaining a military science degree at Omaha University, Ray became a pilot for American Airlines in DFW; he was also a test pilot at Tinker Air Force Base and flew the B-52.

He belonged to Kiwanis for 37 years and was a Gideon. After retirement, Ray was a Real Estate Broker, and he enjoyed developing land. He had lived in this area since 2002.

Ray was preceded in death by his parents, his twin sisters, and his brother Merlin Abbott.

Ray is survived by his wife,; son, Dirk Allen Abbott & wife, Leta, of Hugo; daughters, Julie Ann Davis & husband, Derek, of Denton, TX, Amy Abbott of Dallas, TX, & Nancy Jankowski & husband, Steve, of Minneapolis, MN;

grandchildren, David Tedrow, Denny Tedrow, Brady Tedrow, Miranda Glassier, Chantelle Abbott Rateliff, Kendra Nottingham, Macy Allen, BenWilliam, Allison Wall, DJ Wall, Anacari Strong, Marie Jankowski, Jeneva Jankowski, & Sinclair Jankowski;

great grandchildren Gabe, Jaise, Kaleb, Kenzie, and Peyton; his sister-in-law, Jean Abbott, and many other family & friends.

Family will receive friends Thursday, November 9, 2017, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Prater-Lampton-Mills & Coffey Funeral Home Chapel in Hugo, OK.
