TORRINGTON, WYOMING — Memorial services for William F. Harper, 71, will be held at 2pm Friday, December 1, 2017 at the Colyer Funeral Home Chapel with Reverend Bill Eaton officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in the Valley View Cemetery. William died November 25, 2017 at Region West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Nebraska and cremation has taken place. Arrangements are by the Colyer Funeral Home.
William was born May 30, 1946 in Port Arthur, Texas the son of Walton and Frances (Manganice) Harper. He grew up and received his education in Port Arthur graduating high school there. He entered the US Navy in 1965 and served four years being discharged in 1969. He married Sheila Saxton on August 2, 1969 in San Diego, California. They lived in Port Arthur for two years and then moved to Chadron, Nebraska in 1971. In 1985 they moved to Torrington, Wyoming. He worked as an engineer for the Union Pacific Railroad. He retired in December of 2006.
William enjoyed horses.
William is survived by his wife Sheila of Torrington, Wyoming; two sons Troy Durant Harper of Kimball, Nebraska and William Grant (Allison) Harper of Sheridan, Wyoming; a daughter Cher Daneen (Johnny) Buchanan of Lingle, Wyoming; brothers Gary Lynn (Mary) Harper of Reno, Nevada, Charles Harper of Marshall, Texas and Jerry Harper of Houston, Texas; a sister Melba Freeman of Palestine, Texas; grandchildren Thomas Edmunds III of Lingle, Lyndsey Edmunds of Lovell, Wyoming, Gage Harper of Kimball, and Joey Harper, Seth Harper, Naomi Harper all of Sheridan; two great grandchildren Thomas Edmunds IV and Aftin Edmunds of Lingle, Wyoming. He was preceded in death by his parents.
