Owen A. 'Hap' Frank

Memorial services for Owen Ashcraft "Hap" Frank, Jr. 69, of Casper, were held Friday afternoon, Feb. 5 at Memorial Chapel in Casper. Cremation has taken place.

Mr. Frank died Sunday, Feb. 2 of Lou Gehrig's Disease while surrounded by his wife and children at the Wyoming Medical Center.

He was born on Jan. 1, 1930 in Scottsbluff, NE, the son of Owen A. and Dorothea E. (Pederson) Frank. He graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1948 and Scottsbluff Junior College in 1950. He spent 10 years with the Nebraska National Guard, attaining the rank of 1st Lieutenant, and briefly, commanded the Scottsbluff unit.

He married Elenor Eckerdt on Nov. 7, 1980 in Casper.

Mr. Frank moved his family to Pinedale in 1954, where he owned and operated the Pinedale Roundup. After its sale, he continued to work as a print journalist in Colorado and Wyoming. His retirement years were spent on woodworking projects for his family and friends, traveling with his wife and growing a large garden where he "worried the hell out of the weeds and bugs." He was a member of the American Cribbage Congress and traveled five states playing in tournaments. He helped found a local cribbage club which meets weekly during the winter months.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children, Owen Frank of Glenrock, Fred Frank of Idaho Falls Idaho, Mary Pat Frank and Susan Frank of Casper, and Dorothy Howard of Silt, CO; a brother, William Frank of Scottsbluff, NE; a sister, Patricia Abbott of Alliance, NE; four step-children, Dennis Eckerdt of Lakewood, CO, Ray Eckerdt and Judy Hayes of Aurora, CO, and Trudy Amiot of Byton, MI, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren.

The family sould appreciate memorials to the Muscular Dystrophy Assocization or ALSW Association in care of Memorial Chapel, or a charity of the donor's choice.
