Kenneth Dean Adams, the youngest of four children was born on the family farm in Mitchell County, Kansas. He departed this life at the Mitchell County Hospital in Beloit at the age of 82.
Kenneth was born and raised in the Coursen Grove area, where he attended school and later graduated from Beloit High School in 1953.
In the fall of 1957, he met Leta Snyder and it was love at first sight. The two were married on April 20, 1958 at the Montrose Methodist Church. Together, they began their married life living in Coursen Grove, also known as Adams Station, and to this union were born seven children. They were privileged to spend nearly 60 years of marriage together until her death in February, 2017.
Kenneth was an avid sports fan, and enjoyed following his Beloit High Trojans, K-State Wildcats, and Kansas City Chiefs. He also took great pride in visiting all 50 states – 48 of them by car. He always had a Dr. Pepper in his hand while sitting in his favorite spots – whether it was the tractor, the shop chair, or his "Poppo" chair, and later his Mule ATV, which he drove everywhere to "better go see what's going on" and to haul water for the rose on Leta's grave at Green Mound Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Leta, he was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Dale and Duane Adams, and three children: a son who was born silent, Deana Mae, and Darrell Eugene.
Left to mourn his passing and celebrate his life are his children: a son and wife of Wakefield; a daughter and husband of Wichita; a son of Kensington; a daughter and husband of Derby; seven grandchildren: Jeremy Adams (Kristi) of Coursen Grove, Wade Adams (Amanda) of Kansas City, KS, Jansen Yetter of Wichita, Jessica Duntz (Collin) of Wichita, Jake Henson (Kelsey) of Emporia, KimbraLee Payne (Tanner) of Kansas City, MO, and Kenni Henson of Derby; six great grandchildren: Oakleigh, Quinn, Logan, and Wyatt Adams, Jaxen and Lucas Duntz; and many relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held at the First Baptist Church in Barnard, Kansasfollowed by burial in Green Mound Cemetery near Asherville. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Friday at the Roberts Family Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the BHS Athletic Department.
