Dr. Adams was a Watauga County, NC native.
He was a Baptist minister for 28 years. He served Vaughn's Chapel Baptist Church and Oral Baptist Church in Lenoir City, TN; Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Liberty, NC; Oak Street Baptist Church in Elizabethton, TN; Temple Baptist Church in Johnson City, TN; Ninth Street Baptist Church in Erwin, TN; Glenwood Baptist Church in Kingsport, TN; and Sixth Street Baptist Church in Silver City, NM. In later years, he worked in insurance and investments with Prudential Financial as a manager.
Dr. Adams was preceded in death by: his parents, Allen D. Adams and Stella G. Adams; three brothers, Burl N. Greene, Albert B. Greene and Billy L. Greene; one sister, Blanche A. Henderson; one great-grandson, Aiden Patrick Turner.

Adams in a funeral service to be held at 7:00 PM, Wednesday, January 17, 2018 in the Chapel of Valley Funeral Home. Dr. Ron Murray will officiate. A visitation period to share memories and offer support to the family will be held on Wednesday, January 17. 2018 beginning at 6:00 PM and will continue until service time at Valley Funeral Home. A committal service will be held on Thursday, January 18, 2018 at 11:00 AM in Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 1330 Sherwood Road, Vilas, NC. Those serving as pallbearers will be son, sons-in-law, fiancé, friend, brother and deacon: Michael L. Martinez, O. D. Warner, Bruce Irby, Gene Hammer, Jeff Campbell, Johnny Adams, and Kenneth Day. Honorary pallbearers will be the present and retired deacons of Ninth Street Baptist Church. Those attending the graveside committal service will meet at Cove Creek Baptist Church Cemetery in Vilas, NC by 10:45 AM on Thursday, January 18, 2018.
