Mr. John Alfred Abston, 91, of Greenwood, formerly of Cleveland, passed away Friday, January 26, 2018, at his home. Visitation will be 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2018, at Ray Funeral Home. Celebration of Life services will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 28, 2017, at Ray Funeral Home with Bro. Ike Raley officiating. Interment will follow in Delta Heights Memorial Garden Cemetery.

Mr. Abston was born in Service, AL, on June 17, 1926, to Clemmon and Minnie McDowell Abston. He married Vivian Williams and worked for most of his life as a Journeyman Lineman. He was an avid gardener, a great cook, an amazing woodworker, and a fisherman in his younger years. Most importantly he was a great father and grandfather who was known for spoiling his grandchildren by carrying them everywhere.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Vivian Williams Abston; parents, Clemmon Abston and Minnie McDowell Abston; and sister, Mildred Long.

Mr. Abston is survived by his sons, Ronald Abston of Cordova, TN, and John Abston (Sheila) of Savannah, TN; grandchildren, Aprille Abston-Turns (Jason) of Germantown, TN, and John Cody Abston (Viktoriya) of Wetumpka, AL; great-grandchildren, Maren Turns, Linden Turns, and Elijah John Abston; brother, Franklin Abston (Betty) of Gladewater, TX; and special companion, Ila Henderson of Greenwood.
