CHARLES E. SWEIGERT, 45, who resided at 226 Summt Avenue, burned to death yesterday morning when a Baltimore and Pittsburg Motor Express Company trailer truck he was driving was destroyed by fire on the Pennsylvania turnpike, four miles east of Somerset. State Police said that after the front tire blew out, Sweigert's truck sideswiped a parked truck, crashed into a bridge, and burst into flames. The truck was bound for Pittsburg with a load of steel.

A resident of this city for the last 20 years, he was a member of the United Brethren Church.

He was born in Morrison, Ill., the son of George E. and Emma Jane (Daywalt) Sweigert.

Surviving besides wife, Mary (Ashbaugh) Sweigert, are daughters, Ruth, Hazel, Jane, Dorothy, all at home; sons, Pfc. Charles E. Sweigert, Jr., Grand Island, Neb.; Donald, at home; mother, Mrs. Emma Swigert, Pinesburg; sister, Mrs. Julia Carbaugh, Pinesburg; brothers, Arbie, Hagerstown; Daywalt, Belvedere, NJ; Elmer Cumberland.

Services were held at the A.K. Coffman Funeral Home. Interment in Rest Haven Cemetery.
