Leah M. (Schwarz) Aden, 95, formerly of Chappell, NE, was called to her eternal home on Friday, March 30 at Clark Jeary Retirement Community. Leah was born to Rev. Benedict Schwarz and Florence (Mueller) Schwarz on August 17, 1922 in Rapid City, South Dakota.
She was baptized into the Lutheran faith on August 27, 1922. Leah moved with her family to Chappell in 1929 and was confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church in 1937 by her father, who was Zions pastor. She graduated from Deuel County High School in 1940.
Leahs career included teaching in a rural school, working for the Ring News Agency in Fort Collins, CO and Yakima, WA prior to her marriage.
Leah married her childhood friend, Robert Bob Aden, on December 15, 1946 in Fairbury, NE. Their marriage was blessed with two children, Charlotte Ann and Timothy Lee. The couple lived in Chappell and were part owners in the Adens IGA Store until their retirement in 1982.
After Bobs death in 2013, Leah remained in Chappell until December, 2016 when health concerns required a move to Clark Jeary in Lincoln, NE.
Survivors include: daughter, Charlotte (Ron) Kafka; son, Timothy (Barb) Aden; grandsons, Andrew (Katie) Kafka, Adam (Tiffany) Kafka; nine great-grandchildren; brother, Daniel Schwarz; brother-in-law, Donald Wendelin; and several nieces and nephews.
Leah was preceded in death by: her husband; parents; sisters, Ruth, Beulah, Miriam, Eunice; and brother, Nathan.
Funeral services on Friday, April 6, at Christ Lutheran Church. Burial will be at 12 p.m. at the Chappell Cemetery on Saturday, April 7.
