WILLIAM "WC" CLYDE COUNTS

Haysi, VA- William "WC" Clyde Counts, age 86, passed away Monday, April 23, 2018 at Johnston Memorial Hospital in Abingdon, VA.

Born in West Virginia, he was a son of the late Clyde and Elsie Dorton Counts. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, 2nd Division, 23rd Infantry Regiment, receiving two purple hearts, 1st Oak Leaf Cluster, Korean Service Medal and three Bronze Stars. He was last employed as an electrician.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Lois Barton, Maggie Stewart and Patricia Addison.

Survivors include his wife, Ann, a daughter, Michaelle "Mickie" Counts of Abingdon, two grandchildren, John Alexander Blackwell of Hoboken, NJ and Elizabeth Ann (Sam) Blevins of Glade Spring, VA, four sisters, Lema Baker of Clintwood, Lillian Ratliff of Abingdon, Beulah Faye McKemy of Abingdon and Colleen (Bob) Sutherland of Haysi, brothers Ronnie (Rita) Counts of Haysi and Donnie (Patty) Counts of Pound.

A visitation will be held from 6-8p.m. on Wednesday, April 25, 2018 at Haysi Funeral Home.

Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Thursday at Clyde and Elsie Counts Cemetery, Haysi, VA with Joey Baker officiating and Military Rites to follow with VA Army National Guard Honor Team and Dickenson County Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be grandson, grandson-in-law and nephews.
